Be Proactive this Storm Season!
Spring and summer mean storm season in Virginia! Storms can have a significant impact on the operation of your wireless internet, especially storms involving lightning and high winds.
What can you do to ensure that your internet runs uninterrupted, or to troubleshoot in case of an outage?
- Make sure your router and radio equipment are plugged into a surge protector to minimize risk of damage in case of a power surge. Routers are especially sensitive to power fluctuations.
- If the power goes out at your location, there will be no power to your radio or router during that time unless you have battery or generator backup. Ensure that there is power to the equipment first.
- If (especially after a storm) your equipment is on and appears to be functioning normally but you have no internet service, unplug power from your radio and router and leave it unplugged for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, plug it all back in and let it boot back up. If you still have no service, please give us a call at 434-263-6363 or email us.
